Hoover Elementary was built in 1966. At that time there were a total of 19 elementary schools, 3 junior high, and 2 senior high schools in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. The total enrollment for the district was 21,771 students. In 1966 Hoover had a capacity of 750 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The building area was 52,900 square feet and cost $835,796 to build. Hoover had 25 classrooms, including an art room, a conference room, a media center, a music room, gym, cafeteria, small group instructional spaces and computer lab. We enjoy two small courtyards where students can view the change of Minnesota’s seasons. Building improvements have been made throughout the years to keep up with technology and maintenance. During the 2001/02 school year an addition increased the square footage to 56,215.
