5th Grade Assessments

ACCESS for ELLS 

This test is administered to English learners in order to measure progress toward meeting Minnesota’s standards for English language development. This assessment measures students' social and academic language related to listening, speaking, reading and writing in kindergarten through grade 12.

            This test is administered in February-March to kindergarten through 12th grade students identified as English learners.
 

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a series of tests that measure students' general knowledge in reading and math through a state-aligned computerized test. MAP tests are adaptive tests that assess the instructional level and growth of each student. MAP testing helps teachers identify areas that may be more challenging for students and, if necessary, adjust instructional strategies to improve student's understanding.
            This test is administered to all 5th grade students in the Fall, but Winter and Spring MAP testing is optional.

Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) – Math and Reading

This state test helps measure student progress toward Minnesota's academic standards. Most students take the MCA, but students who receive special education services and meet eligibility criteria may take the the MTAS.
            These tests are administered in Trimester 3.

This state test helps measure student progress toward Minnesota's academic standards for science. Most students take the MCA, but students who receive special education services and meet eligibility criteria may take the the MTAS.
            This test is administered in Trimester 3.
 
Performance Indicator Chart
Expected student performance on the MCA-III assessments in math and reading given in the spring,can be predicted based on Fall MAP scores.
