District hosts four Fit for the Future community meetings; last one set for May 30
Dozens of community members turned out for the first four Fit for the Future community meetings the weeks of May 15 and May 22, learning more about the School Board's plan to ask voters for funding to address facility issues this election season.
The meetings held at Champlin Park High School, Coon Rapids High School, Andover High School and Anoka High School included a short presentation from district administrators about Anoka-Hennepin's facility needs, as well as time for members of the community to see the initial construction plans and engage with the School Board and staff to ask questions and provide feedback.
The final community meeting is scheduled for the next week, Tuesday, May 30, at Blaine High School. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the school's cafeteria.
Following the recommendations from the Fit for the Future Task Force, the Anoka-Hennepin School Board is moving forward to ask voters for funding to address facility issues this election season. If approved, the funding generated from bond and operating levies will create appropriately-sized facilities, remove portable classrooms to increase safety, and provide flexibility for today’s classroom needs.
Anoka-Hennepin has a long history of involving the community in discussions and decisions about large-scale facility changes. It's in that spirit, the School Board decided to host the five community meetings at each high school.
