Welcome to Mrs. Matz's Website
I have been teaching for twenty-five years, twenty-one of them in the Anoka-Hennepin district. I tam certified to teach both English and German and love them both! I have been at Andover High since it opened in 2002. For the last fourteen years at Andover High School, I have taught German I-IV and English 9 (both regular and honors). I have also taught English 11 for the last five years. This year I have opted to teach only German so I can focus on the new materials we have recently adopted. During the winter season, I am the head coach for the Andover High Speech Team. I am also the advisor of The German Club.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota--Duluth in 1993 with teaching degrees in both English and German as well as a speech communications minor and coaching certificate. In 2005, I earned my Master's Degree of Education from Hamline University.
I have lived in Andover with my husband, two sons, and our cat for sixteen years. We enjoy biking, golfing, playing volleyball, and hiking. In my spare time, I enjoy reading novels (of course!).
Thank you for supporting your son's or daughter's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch his/her growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
