Welcome to Crooked Lake Music with Mrs. Remus
This is my 14th year of teaching elementary music at Crooked Lake. Before coming to CL, I taught in the Minneapolis and Mounds View school districts. My work background includes being a voice teacher, a respiratory therapist, a pharmacy technician, a production coordinator for a children's science television show, a Community Education youth development coordinator and more. My three children, ages 22-30 and my husband are all musicians in some form. My middle son is a singer/songwriter and performs frequently in the Twin Cities area. He has visited my music classroom several times to perform and work with the students. In addition to singing and performing, I love to walk, dance, play volleyball, read, and watching my 2 granddaughters, ages 3 and 6.
Our time in music class is precious with a total of only 34 hours of music instruction during the school year. Most classes come to music for 30 minutes twice weekly. I strive to create a classroom where students are engaged and challenged while learning to listen, sing, play games and instruments, move, create and write music. They are building a musical vocabulary along with rhythmic and melodic skills that they can take forward to middle school music and beyond.
I am at school on DD1, DD3, DD4 and DD5. I do not teach on DD2. If you need to contact me, it's best to email me at Jean.Remus@ahschools.us
