"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."

    Henry David Thoreau

The RMS Art department believes that art is a "response-ability" crucial in a wonderfully visual world. Students practice artful thinking as they are introduced to numerous art styles, cultures and time periods. As they view their own art or that of others they consider the following questions:

    What do you notice?

What does it remind you of?

How does it make you feel?

What do you think it means?

Knowledge of the arts fosters greater knowledge in all other areas of learning.

Students at all grade levels learn, create, think and discuss art from the perspective of the various roles artists play.

Some of the roles they encounter may be:

Messenger, Teacher, Storyteller, Designer, Interpreter, Planner, Inventor, Recorder
and most importantly. . . PROBLEM SOLVER
