Welcome to the School Psychology Services Website
Thanks for taking the time to find this website. My name is Michele Willert and I am the School Psychologist for Monroe. I have been with the Anoka-Hennepin School District for seven years. Prior to returning to the school district, I worked in the non-profit world in the area of mental health, specifically parenting and preschool day treatment. My work history includes working with children and families at-risk. Helping parents to navigate complicated social services systems, and to understand the needs of their child and the family, are important to me. As a parent, I understand the concept that "it takes a village" and I am willing to help out where/when I can.
Balance is a necessity for children and adults and my work at Monroe is about helping students access the tools they need to manage the "busyness" of their life. I can also offer support to parents who may have questions about how their child is coping. I can point you in the right direction and help you to find answers to concerns that you may have. My work with students involves learning new and improved ways to express feelings, deal with frustration and engage with others. Over the past few years, I have added the concept of mindfulness to my work with students and found it to be both highly motivating (for them) and transferable between environments. I created a newsletter column that was used by my other school (Hoover) with some of the basics of the concept and will post some of those entries on my resource page.
If you have any questions about my work at Monroe, or have a general question about any of these areas, please contact me.
I have placed some resources in the files section of this webpage. There you will find a description of The Zones of Regulation, information on The 5 Point Scale, a feelings chart and a list of mental health resources in our area. Additionally, there is a list of resources to help parents, and staff, gain more information about behavior management and support. New for 2019-2020 are documents about working memory, size of the problem, ant other concepts that I use on a regular basis.
Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work at Monroe and to watch the growth of all students. Together we can help your child achieve success!
