How Do I Know?
There are many resources available to help guide students through the transfer planning process. Transferring is so common, most schools have an admission's rep who only works with transfer students. If you plan ahead and select your courses wisely, transferring between colleges is an easy process. Be sure you are having conversations with the admission rep at the college you are attending as well as with the transfer admission rep at the school you plan to attend in the future.
Some of the resources include:
The MnSCU system uses Transferology to assist students in determining if credits will transfer and help in the college planning and course selection process. University of Minnesota schools use the MnCAP transfer program.
Remember, the final decision as to whether a course will transfer rests with the college accepting the credit. This is why it is important to be working with your transfer college as soon as you start your post-secondary coursework.
Transferology is a nation-wide network designed to help students explore their college transfer options. Our goal is to save students time and money by providing a quick, intuitive way of getting their college transfer credit questions answered.
Students can answer the question "Will my courses transfer?" by adding coursework, exams, and/or military learning experiences to see how many schools in the Transferology network have matching courses that may be awarded when they transfer. They can also find out what their options are for taking classes over the summer (or whenever) at another school to transfer back to their current school by using the "Find a Replacement Course" feature.
