    Join us for a series of unique seminars designed to help you answer these questions and achieve financial security.

    The Anoka-Hennepin School District, in conjunction with Capital Street Financial Services, Inc., is excited to offer this list of courses over the next few months.
     
    The goal of the seminars is to provide innovative ideas to help employees maximize the use of their employer-provided benefits. The district also wants to increase awareness of the issues that have the greatest potential impact on the financial security of employees.
     
    Each session is approximately 90 minutes long. Courses are open to all Anoka-Hennepin employees at no charge. Each employee may bring a guest, if desired.

    Investment basics - 9/25/18

    This course will cover some fundamental investment concepts, review some of the investment options that are available to you, and consider some general investment strategies.

    Five basic challenges – 10/23/18

    As the Baby Boomer population continues into retirement and through old age, there are five main financial challenges they will face. This presentation is specifically designed to identify these challenges and provide practical solutions.

    Financial planning basics – 11/14/18

    This course will take a look at some general financial planning concerns. While there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” financial plan, this overview should assist you in thinking about your own needs.

    Retirement basics – 12/11/18

    This course will discuss how you go about establishing a plan for retirement. If your retirement is a destination, your plan is a road map that will get you there. The course will also explain why it is important to start planning now.

    Estate planning basics – 1/15/19

    We will take a look at some general estate planning concepts and strategies. While there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” estate plan, this overview may assist you as you consider your own estate planning needs, and help you determine whether you might benefit from working with a professional.

    Planning for long-term care RESCHEDULED 3/6/19

    Long-Term Care can be a substantial expense, especially for retirees on a fixed income budget. This seminar will provide an overview of various strategies to protect your assets, and discuss how to manage your savings in order to provide adequate income should you experience a Long-Term Care event.

    Roth IRA conversions – 3/19/19

    This seminar will review the impact future taxes can have on your savings and retirement income, as introduced in previous courses. The course will answer questions you might have about the process of converting qualified assets to Roth, and discuss potential strategies to mitigate the uncertainty of future tax rates.

    Social security – 4/9/19

    This course is designed to help you better understand your Social Security benefit options and the significant impact this income source has on your retirement.

    Life insurance – RESCHEDULED 4/18/19 

    Is life insurance really necessary?  We will discuss the various types and forms of protection.  We will show you how to evaluate your own needs and maximize the effectiveness of your existing or prospective policies.

    Debt and credit card management – 5/14/19

    We will help you understand the credit scoring system and ways to manage your credit score. We will also discuss how to manage your debt, and key factors in creating a budget.

    This course is Tuesday, May 14 - 5:00 p.m. at ESC Erling Johnson C&D.
