If you need financial aid to help you pay for college, it’s important that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The good news? The FAFSA is simpler than ever! Did you know that, on average, it only takes 23 minutes complete? That equates to roughly one episode of your favorite TV program, so no excuses about not having the time. Record that TV show and watch it later.
New this year, both students and parents will need to create an FSA ID number prior to starting the FAFSA form. Students, parents, and borrowers are required to use an FSA ID, made up of a username and password, to access certain U.S. Department of Education websites (such as FAFSA). Your FSA ID is used to confirm your identity when accessing your financial aid information and electronically signing your federal student aid documents.
You can create your FSA ID number at www.fsaid.ed.gov
Do not share this ID number with anyone! Be sure to enter your name exactly as it appears on your social security card. See the FSA ID video link below for more information.
This 2 minute video created by the Department of Education will give you a quick introduction to the FAFSA process.
