Technical High School celebrates 81 students at graduation ceremony

The Anoka-Hennepin Technical High School commencement signals a significant accomplishment for graduates, offering high school degree completion and a platform to launch into postsecondary education opportunities and career goals.

Technical High School, located on the campus of Anoka Technical College, guides students who did not graduate with their peers to diploma completion while also introducing pathways to post-secondary options. The school location, with convenient access to college programs, PSEO options and experienced staff, provides a seamless transition for students from high school to postsecondary opportunities.

School Board members Kacy Deschene, Linda Hoekman, Dr. Michelle Langenfeld and Jeff Simon joined Assistant Superintendent Dr. Annette Ziegler, assistant principal Megan Hendrix and Principal Heather Forse in congratulating the students on their accomplishments. Thom Nordin, dean of community partnerships and student success at Anoka Technical College represented that partnering organization. 

Moving on: Four students were awarded post-secondary scholarships to assist with post-secondary education with support from the Coon Rapids Lions Club and Anoka Technical College Foundation: 

• Otto Rincon Boroquez, $3,000 - Construction Electrician program
• Edward Mugajja, $3,000 - Welding certification/Automotive program
• Sultanie Abkhaiirova, $3,000 - Surgical technician 
• Isra Ahmad, $1,000 - Nursing

Anoka-Hennepin Technical High School was recognized nationally for innovation and excellence with a Magna Award from the National School Boards Association in 2016.
