Success in this environment requires discipline, reliable technology, and strong time management.

• Daily logins: Students are expected to log in to every class, every day - even if you have no new work.
• Time commitment: Expect to spend 2–3 hours per class daily. Online courses require as much effort as in-person classes.
• Availability: Courses are accessible from 12 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Attendance is based on logging in and completion of attendance forms, not on assignments submitted.

• How to record attendance:
  • In APEX or Edmentum, open the course unit overview.
  • In Google Classroom, complete the Daily Attendance Form at the top of the "Classwork" tab.
• Verification: 
  • In APEX or Edmentum, attendance is automatically tracked by the system. Smartphones or tablets are not compatible and will not track your participation.
  • In Google Classroom, students will receive a confirmation email.
• Early completion: 
  • In APEX or Edmentum, notify your teacher. You must log in daily until the class is removed from your dashboard.
  • In Google Classroom, notify your teacher to stop attendance requirements.

A computer is required for online learning.
Smartphones and tablets may not be compatible with learning platforms.

• Device: Use a computer with Google Chrome. Smartphones and tablets are not sufficient for completing coursework or recording attendance.
• Account: Use your school-issued Google account for all platforms.

Communication is a critical component of progress for grading.

• School email: Students are expected to check their student email daily; as it is the school's primary way to reach you.
• Schedules: Students and their families will receive login information via email before each trimester.
• Grades: Track assignments, progress and grades by logging in to StudentVue, or ParentVue.
• Progress reports: Parents receive weekly APEX progress emails every Sunday.

Student expectations

• Environment: Create a quiet, distraction-free workspace.
• Conduct: Treat all staff and peers with courtesy. Use respectful language in all digital communications.
• Integrity: Complete your own work and do not share course links/assessments with others.
• Proactive: Seek help from teachers or counselors immediately if you fall behind.

Family expectations and support

• Structure: Help your student establish a consistent daily routine.
• Monitoring: Regularly check ParentVue and your email for updates.
• Flexibility: Anticipate challenges and encourage persistence as your student adapts to online learning.
