• Welcome to Talent Development at Hamilton!

I am thrilled to be your child's talent development teacher this year! It will be to be a fantastic year filled with new challenges, enrichment, and positive growth. I will teach small groups of students for both reading and math in grades 3, 4, and 5. I will teach whole group lessons in grades 1 and 2.

This is my eleventh year teaching! My talent development experience began in my previous district. I selected curriculum, wrote an instructional scope and sequence, and taught students in a two year launch of a multi-age gifted and talented classroom for grades 3-5. I have also taught several years as a classroom teacher for grades two, three, four, and five and was a math and reading intervention teacher for grades K-5.  I received my B.A.S. in Elementary Education with a specialization in Social Studies and Technology Certificate from the University of MN-Duluth and my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction with a K-12 Reading License from Concordia- St. Paul. I continue my learning through post-graduate level courses and professional development opportunities, specifically related to talent development.

My husband and I live in Champlin with our son who is nineteen months. We have had a wonderful summer filled with swimming, parks, grandparents, and trips to our family cabin. I also enjoy taking walks, boating, yoga, and photography.

Communication is very important! Please communicate with me about your child throughout the year. You may contact me through email, phone, or we can schedule a meeting. Do not hesitate to ask any questions. I will work to provide updates and resources to you as they come up.

I am looking forward to a fantastic year teaching your child and partnering with you!

     -Mrs. Christine McCarthy

**I will be on maternity leave from approximately April through the remainder of the school year. Students will continue working in small groups, partners, and independently on Talent Development assignments to meet their goals. If you have questions or concerns about your child's current work or progress during this time, please reach out to their classroom teachers. I will not have access to return emails or phone calls during my maternity leave. Thank you!
