My name is Maddie Weiler. I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten at University Avenue Elementary. We are amazing ACES Leaders!
I graduated from the University of Minnesota Masters' program in 2017. I have been teaching in the Anoka-Hennepin district since then.
I love kindergarten because everything is new and exciting. Kindergarteners see the world in a way that is completely their own. It is such an important time in these childrens' lives and I take my responsibilities as a teacher very seriously. In kindergarten we learn how to read, how to count and add, how to be engineers and observers, how to be a friend, how to be a leader, and so much more.
I use mindfulness based practices in my classroom to help students listen to their own minds and bodies and regulate their emotions. We focus on our breathing, what our senses can hear, see, and feel, and visualizing our goals to help us achieve them.
Together we learn, we play, we grow, we lead.
