Welcome to our Classroom Website!
My name is Michelle Peterson, and this is my 16th year of teaching. I have an Elementary Education degree from the University of Northwestern-St. Paul and a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning degree from St. Mary's University.
In my years at Mississippi, I have taught third-grade, fourth-grade reading and social studies, fourth-grade reading and writing, and both fourth- and fifth-grade reading and writing. During the 2009-10 school year, I took a one-year leave of absence to teach in the Philippines at the Children's Shelter of Cebu. I taught the second-grade level at their Children of Hope School. It was an incredible, life-changing experience! All of the rest of my years of teaching have been at Mississippi.
I have lived in the Anoka area since I was a child and grew up in the Anoka schools, so I like being able to teach in the same district in which I grew up. Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, outreach work, involvement at my church, playing games, reading, spending time outdoors, going for walks, and watching some reality TV shows like American Ninja Warrior and Amazing Race!
I enjoy helping students learn and watching them grow and be inspired in their learning. Teaching children to be kind, honest, and compassionate people is also a priority for me. Thank you for your involvement in and support of your child's education. A strong parent/child team is invaluable in helping a child reach his/her fullest potential!
