    Welcome to Mrs. Dixon's Website

My name is Barb Dixon and I'm in my 15th year of teaching in Anoka-Hennepin. I've been an Academic Support teacher the entire time; first teaching for two years at Oxbow Creek Elementary and then for four years at Riverview Elementary before coming to Mississippi. During the winter of 2017, I added Literacy Intervention Teacher to my job responsibilities to better support our Wonders reading curriculum. While at Mississippi, I have been lucky enough to work in every grade level. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in corporate communications.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Communications from Gustavus Adolphus College and a master's degree in Business Communications from the University of St. Thomas. I also did the coursework for my teaching license and Master of Teaching degree at St. Thomas. I earned my reading license at Hamline University.

I have been married to my husband, Jeff, for 24 years and we have three sons: Joe, 22, and Sam, 19, are in college and Luke, 17, is a senior at Champlin Park High School. We also have an adorable rat terrier-mix dog named Taylor.

My boys are all active in sports and I love to watch their games and activities. As a family, we like to travel (road trips!), watch movies and sporting events, play board games, and spend time outdoors and at our cabin. I also enjoy reading, spending time with friends, golfing with Jeff, and working on our house and yard.

Thank you for all you do to support your student's learning!
