Welcome to our Classroom Website
Welcome to English Language Arts for sixth graders. I have a passion for reading and writing and love to share that with students. I have been teaching since 1982 when I graduated college in Wisconsin with a double major: elementary education in grades 1-6, and special education for the learning disabled in grades K-12. Before my husband and I left to put down our roots in Minnesota, I completed another license, again in the area of special education, for students with emotional and behavioral disorders in grades K-12. This is the area I first worked in when I came to Anoka-Hennepin in 1985. After having two sons, I returned to full time teaching in special education at one of our elementary buildings at the same time I completed my master's degree in special education while earning another certification to work with students with mild to moderate intellectual handicaps in grades K-12 from the University of Minnesota. About that time, 1996, I moved to Northdale to work in the mainstream in regular education. I found that I really enjoy focusing on reading and writing. This led me to attend Hamline University where I completed a certification as a reading specialist to work with students in grades K-12. My husband and I are now empty nesters with time to focus on our careers and to volunteer. Like most Minnesotans, we like to be outside as much as possible in the summer. In the winter, I relax by cooking and engaging in a variety of craft activities.
Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch their growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
We use Google Classroom for a great deal of our work. If parents ever need to check on what work is coming up or what something looks like, ask your student for his or her password and sign in as your student.
