Welcome to Advanced ELA 7 & ELA 8!
I have been teaching at Northdale Middle School since 2003, and seventh graders are my all-time favorite. Their humor, excitement, and creativity keep me on my toes! I am an avid reader and love all things ELA related, and that shows up in my lessons. My two children are also in Anoka-Hennepin schools, and when we're not reading together, we're probably cheering on one family member or another at our various activities: triathlon training, swimming, baseball, dance, piano...the list goes on!
At school I also sponsor a student-run group called Youth for Change. During our meeting times, I help students funnel their talents into the local and global topics they are passionate about. It is amazing what they have been able to accomplish! They have done food drives, book drives, fundraisers for food security in Kenya, a fundraiser for a fellow classmate battling a health issue, public service announcements for raising awareness for the local homeless population and ethical chocolate companies, and plenty more!
