Dear Students and Parents:
Welcome! I have the distinct privilege of working with RMS’s seventh grade students in ELA and AELA. Certainly, middle school is a time for many new discoveries, opportunities, and challenges; and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with you.
The course goals in ELA and AELA are to provide students with strategies to achieve academic success by improving comprehension skills, writing skills, expanding students’ vocabulary base, learning effective study habits, and encourage students to be life-long readers and learners. Furthermore, one of my personal goals as a teacher is to empower students to take control of their own educational journey—by being responsible.
Teaching is my second career (20 years in the legal field) and the realization of a life-long dream. This is my 18th year teaching at RMS, and I thoroughly enjoy working with the students, parents, staff, and administration. Indeed, I feel very honored to be teaching at such a fine school.
I am married and have three adult children. I also have two grandchildren, and my son and his wife are expecting twins in late September/early October! As a parent and educator, I am impressed with Anoka-Hennepin’s commitment to excellence in education, the respectful environment created in the schools, and how the community is an active partner in the school system. I am committed both personally and professionally to the growth and prosperity of the students in our community. As a parent, I know how important it is to establish a partnership between home and school. Accordingly, if you should ever have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact me by e-mail at Tammy.Gruenwald@ahschools.us or leave a message on my voicemail (763-506-5940). Likewise, I will contact you with any concerns I may have.
