Hello, my name is Ms. Fischer and I will be your child's art teacher at Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts. This is my seventh year teaching art in the Anoka Hennepin School District and I am so excited to be teaching at Lincoln Elementary School.
At Lincoln, students in kindergarten through fifth grade will attend art class for one hour a week. In art class, kindergarten through second grade artists will study the Elements of Art: line, color, shape, texture, value, space and form, which we explain are the building blocks and tools by which art is created. Third grade students will review the Elements of art, focus on the Principles of Art: balance and pattern, and study Ojibwe and Dakota art. Fourth grade artists will study communication in art and will focus on the Principles of Art: contrast, emphasis and repetition. Fifth grade artists will explore modern art and artists, traditional and contemporary Ojibwe and Dakota art and focus on ways that art changes.
In class we will be creating many kinds of artwork using many different media, many of which will be messy! Please make sure that your child has an art-shirt for class.
