    Welcome to my website!

Hi, my name is Aaron Balzer, School Psychologist at Mississippi and Franklin Elementary Schools. I am originally from Owatonna, Minnesota. I received my Master of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 2001. This will be my eighth year here at Mississippi and 17th at Anoka-Hennepin schools.

I've done a variety of work over the years, including Special Education testing, consultation with staff and parents, counseling, skills teaching, and intervention for children with emotional/behavioral needs. I typically work with children in Special Education in support of their Individualized Education Plan, but I also do crisis counseling and consultation with anyone as our school community needs. I most enjoy building relationships with students and seeing them grow. I serve on two committees to work on problems district-wide in special education. During the last year, I've worked on establishing procedures for schools to communicate better with community mental health facilities and improve the transition process from elementary to middle school.

My wife and I have three children, two in elementary at Edinbrook Elementary and one at Osseo Middle School. This summer, we had a Disney trip and many camp opportunities. Personally, I started biking a lot more and have started writing a fiction novel.

I am at Mississippi on digital days 3 and 5 this year. Feel free to contact me over email or phone if you would like to connect for concerns or questions about your child!
