Hi! I'm Karen L. Strassburg and I have been teaching Talent Development at Rum River since 2008. This year I will also spend two afternoons at Madison Elementary for Talent Development. I was one of the original four teachers to develop and teach Transition Math, which began in 2011. This year, 2018/19 school year, I will not be teaching TM, instead I will have one section of 5th grade math. Prior to TD and TM, I was a short and long-term substitute at various schools in ISD 11. I grew up in farming country of central Minnesota and received my Bachelors from Bemidji State University in 2005. My husband and I enjoy spending time (mostly chasing!) our three small children.
Outside of my school day, I enjoy baking, photography, Pinterest, studying leadership/communication principals and dreaming of next year's MN State Fair. I really look forward to working with all of the bright, young minds at Rum River and Madison Elementary Schools. I work hard to make my classroom welcoming, inviting, and challenging.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Email is usually best, as I'm not able to answer phone calls with students in the room. Thank you for supporting your child's education!
