Hi! I'm Karen L. Strassburg and I have been teaching Talent Development at Rum River since 2008. I was one of the original four teachers to develop and teach Transition Math, which began in 2011. That program has now been discontinued and we have a new and exciting Talent Development and Gifted Education program in our district! Along with a team of teachers, I spent 86 hours of this past summer designing and writing the curriculum. Prior to TD, I was a short and long-term substitute at various schools in ISD 11. I grew up in the farming country of central Minnesota and received my Bachelor's Degree from Bemidji State University in 2005. My husband and I enjoy spending time (mostly chasing!) our three small children.
Outside of my school day, I enjoy photography, leading my children's 4-H club (Spunky Spelunkers of St. Francis, MN), studying leadership/communication principles and dreaming of next year's MN State Fair. I really look forward to working with all of the bright, young minds at Rum River. I work hard to make my classroom welcoming, inviting, and challenging.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. E-mail is usually best, as I'm not able to answer phone calls with students in the room. Thank you for supporting your child's education!
