    My name is Valeka Petersen and I am the Media Specialist at Jefferson Elementary. This will be my 3rd year in this role and my 21st year working as a teacher in the Anoka-Hennepin School District. I live in Blaine with my husband Mike and our three children, Jeremy (18), Taylor (16), and Isabella (5). When I'm not at school (or reading), my favorite activity is to go camping with my family. I love working with the students at Jefferson and am grateful to be a part of an amazing team of teachers and paras!
     
    Did you know that students don't just "check out books" in the Media Center?
    All students in grades K-5 visit the Media Center once per week. In that half hour, they participate in a minilesson where they are learning about things like digital citizenship, research methods, and of course different types of literature! Come and "check us out"!!
