Hello! I have taught at Champlin Park since 2016. Last year, I split my time between Coon Rapids and Champlin Park High Schools. I have taught 9th (regular and honors), 10th, and 11th grade. This year, I will be teaching my personal favorites: 9th and 11th grades!

Little about me: I moved to Indiana in 2004 to attend Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. I graduated summa cum laude from Metropolitan State University with a B.A. in English and a minor in Creative Writing. In 2016, I completed my M.Ed at the University of Minnesota.

Outside of school, I spend time with my Venezuelan husband (fun fact: we met at a dodge ball game my freshman year of college), and our three children. I like to drink coffee, attempt yoga, and drink more coffee when my yoga attempts prove to be unworthy of the practice.

My favorite short story is “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway, my favorite literary period is the Harlem Renaissance, and yet, I cannot force myself to name a favorite book. The books that changed me are: Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, Passing by Nella Larsen, and Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. My favorite books to teach are all the books!

If you miss class, check out my Google classroom page. You will get the code on the first day of the trimester. And please, use Google classroom! It doesn’t replace me or my lessons, but it comes pretty darn close.

I love teaching and I love my students!

Thank you for supporting your student's education! I am excited to work with your child and watch their growth. Together we can help your child achieve success!
