In 2005, I started working at Northdale Middle School as an ESL teacher. The students and staff here are fantastic and I can't imagine working anywhere else. I love Northdale!
I grew up in the Southwestern "burbs" of the Twin Cities. After graduating from high school, I moved out East to attend Boston College. Upon graduation in 2001, with a degree in Sociology, I returned to Minnesota where I worked as a youth director for three years. During this time, it became clear to me at that I wanted to be a teacher so I enrolled in the initial licensure/master's program at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. In 2005 I accepted the first job I interviewed for, at Northdale Middle School!
When I'm not thinking about the students at Northdale, I love to travel and learn about new cultures. In college I was lucky enough to study abroad in Bergen, Norway and Melbourne, Australia. I met many wonderful friends from all over the world, and I try and visit these friends as often as possible. It has been especially fun to visit countries such as Bosnia, Mexico, and Thailand which are some of my Northdale students' home countries. Back in Minnesota I enjoy spending time being active in the outdoors. Taking my bike on the many single track trails around the Twin Cities, nordic skiing, and waterskiing are a few of my favorite activities.
