Mrs. Beck is in her 22nd year of teaching Social Science. She has been at Northdale Middle School for the past 6 years, teaching 8th grade Global Studies.

In 1998, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography with a minor in Land Use Management from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. She then worked for the Office of Strategic and Long Range Planning for the State of Minnesota, where she served as a GIS Coordination Specialist. While there, she realized that she would love to teach today's youth about the world we live in and decided to pursue a Graduate degree in Secondary Education. In the past, Mrs. Beck has taught MN History, US History, World History, Geography, Criminology, and Civics in both middle school and high school settings.

As a member of the Minnesota Alliance for Geographic Education (MAGE), Mrs. Beck is actively implementing Geospatial technologies. One favorite activity of students is to participate in Geocaching. She also strives to incorporate many geospatial technologies to get students to think beyond the traditional classroom and make authentic global connections.

In her time away from school, Mrs. Beck enjoys spending time with family. She has two kids active with high school sports, and balances other time with the family kitties, running, travelling and weekends at the cabin.
