In November, Teen Pregnancy Program students and their babies visited Anoka County’s Rum River Library for a morning family storytime. Youth services librarian, Susan Wakefield, led the storytime and encouraged the young moms (and moms-to-be) to begin building their children’s literacy skills by doing simple activities together like reading, singing, and playing. During storytime students and their babies sang songs, played instruments, handled props, and listened to a couple of stories. After storytime, students and their babies explored the activities and books in the library’s children’s area.
A big thank you to AHEF for promoting literacy and helping our students and their children explore valuable community resources.
