Updated attendance boundary change proposal in Blaine
(11/08/2022) The Anoka-Hennepin School Board reviewed boundary proposals at its Nov. 7 meeting and is seeking feedback on an additional option that would adjust boundaries in the Sunrise and McKinley Elementary School areas, as well as Northdale and Roosevelt Middle School boundaries.
The updated proposal would relocate an area south of the Blaine city border with Ham Lake and both north and south of 131st street from the Sunrise Elementary School attendance area to the McKinley Elementary School attendance area. This change also applies to the middle school attendance boundary proposal, shifting an area from Northdale Middle School to the Roosevelt Middle School attendance area. This additional option was presented following significant community feedback over the past several months and is in response to projected new housing development throughout the Blaine community and market conditions for new housing.
The School Board is seeking feedback on this modified proposal prior to making a final decision, which is set for Nov. 21. Attend a community meeting on Tues., Nov 15 at 6 p.m. at Blaine High School to review the updated proposal and provide feedback for school board consideration as new boundaries are finalized. The meeting begins with a brief presentation, which will also be streamed live at ahschools.us.
