Stay alert: Multi-factor authentication begins May 1

(4/16/2025) Anoka-Hennepin Schools is committed to protecting the data of students and staff. As part of the district’s ongoing efforts to enhance and improve data security, implementation of multi-factor authentication (MFA) for staff access to A-HConnect will begin May 1.

MFA is already in place for Anoka-Hennepin staff members accessing Google Workspace, and expanding it to all of the applications and tools staff use is another safeguard in place to prevent unauthorized access to each staff member’s payroll information - such as social security numbers, bank information, personal and identifiable information of staff members, and more.

Why it matters: Cybersecurity threats are increasingly sophisticated. The data school district staff manage – whether student/staff records, personal information, or financial data – is highly valuable to cybercriminals.

How it works: MFA adds an extra layer of protection by requiring something you know (a password) with your Google authentication. Even if an unauthorized person obtained a staff member’s password, they would not be able to access the account without the second verification step.

When it’s happening: MFA for A-HConnect will roll out to all sites beginning May 1, 2025. Users accessing A-H Connect will only be prompted to sign in with their Google login credentials and complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) if they are not already signed in to Google on the device they are using.

Users will be authenticated from their Google login and don’t need to do anything else. If you have questions, please reach out to your site technology contact.
