The Move to Medica: healthcare flex and daycare accounts
(04/26/2024) Starting Sept. 1, 2024, Medica will be the provider for Anoka-Hennepin health insurance benefits. Open enrollment will run from May 28 through June 12.
Starting with the 2024-25 insurance year, healthcare and flexible daycare spending accounts will be managed by a third-party administrator, OneBridge. Employees will no longer submit paperwork to the insurance department for reimbursement.
Employee-funded flexible spending accounts (FSA)
- The healthcare flex max election for 2024-25 will be $3,200.
- The daycare flex max election will be $5,000.
District-funded Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
- Employees enrolled in a deductible health plan will have a district-funded health reimbursement account.
- Single plans will receive a total of $750.
- Families will receive a total of $1,500.
- Deposits are made by the district throughout the insurance year.
If an employee makes an election for FSA funds and also chooses a health plan with an HRA, both funds will be deposited into the same account on one card.
Employees will still need to make an election during open enrollment and print a confirmation page when enrollment is complete.
An informational packet will be provided to employees at the beginning of the insurance year with more details on how to access set-aside funds.
To prepare insurance-eligible employees, a pre-enrollment website has been created with information on network options, pharmacy benefits and wellness programs. The website will be updated throughout the pre-enrollment period to provide detailed information for employees prior to open enrollment.
