Upcoming informational sessions for University of St. Thomas Work and Learn Program
(02/26/2025) Anoka-Hennepin and the University of St. Thomas (UST) have a partnership that provides hands-on experience to support success in future teaching careers.
The Work and Learn program aims to recruit, prepare, retain and support highly qualified paraprofessionals and Tier 1 and Tier 2 teachers to become Tier 3 licensed special education teachers. The program offers an affordable, accessible and accelerated program to earn an Academic and Behavior Strategist (ABS) License and Master’s degree in two and a half years.
Work and Learn Online Program
- Complete an initial ABS license and master's degree in 34 credits (instead of the traditional 48 credits) in 2.5 years.
- The next cohort is Summer 2025. The application deadline is April 25.
- Student teaching can be completed on the job.
- Requires full-time Special Education employment.
Upcoming Online Information Sessions for Work and Learn:
Summer Institutes
Summer Institutes offer teachers with a previous Special Education license to add a license by taking only 2 summer methods courses and a shortened student teaching (with the opportunity to complete student teaching on the job). A transcript review is required.
- Autism Spectrum, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, or Emotional Behavioral Disorders.
- Application Deadline: May 1, 2025.
