(12/04/2020) Douglas Stein, who spent 35 years teaching fifth-grade at Morris Bye Elementary School before his retirement in 1995, has passed away. He was 81 years old.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9 at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 19921 Nightingale St. NW in Oak Grove at 11 a.m.

According to Douglas’ obituary, which was shared by his family, he was an avid bird watcher and had a great appreciation for nature. After his retirement, Douglas shared his love for birding by giving presentations at Springbrook Nature Center and Bunker Hills to school-age children who were on field trips.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 56 years Barbara; son Daniel; daughter Jennifer (Joe Youngquist); grandchildren Paige, Lauren and Noah; brother Greg (Carol Ann), sister Carol (Don Wright); and many more loving family and friends.
