John “Jack” DesRoches, former Andover Elementary teacher, has passed away

(02/07/2022) John “Jack” DesRoches, a former Andover Elementary School physical education teacher, has passed away. He was 80 years old. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, located at 525 Jackson Street in Anoka. Further visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 10 from 5-8 p.m. at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, 2005 Branch Avenue in Anoka.

After starting his teaching career in North Dakota, Jack and his family moved to the Anoka/Andover area where he began teaching for Anoka-Hennepin in 1969-70. He taught physical education and was well known for wearing track suits and his 17 pairs of tennis shoes.

Jack and his wife Diana were blessed with six amazing children, and he is survived by them: Darnell (Dick) Fischer; Stacy (Rob) Laubscher; Lori (Peter) Harris, Marcie (Joe) Harrison, John and (Jenni Heilman) DesRoches, Derek and (Crystal Danley) DesRoches. He is also survived by grandchildren: Cole (Lauren) Harris and first great grandson George coming soon; Janae Harris; Graham and Hailey Laubscher; Carter and Rylee Harrison; Cameron and Hannah DesRoches and many more loving family members and friends.
