Early childhood screenings available
In Minnesota, all children are required to complete an early childhood screening before they enter kindergarten. Ideally, the screening
should be completed as soon as a child turns 3 years old and must be completed before the child attends public kindergarten. Screening is a free, simple check of a young child’s health and development. It does not determine kindergarten readiness.
Parents or guardians may decline screening due to conscientiously held beliefs. A signed statement must be submitted to the screening supervisor if this decision is made.
