Parents/guardians: we need your help with new elementary math classroom materials
(01/04/19) We need your help! Parents/guardians, students and staff, please share your thoughts on new elementary math materials at an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Educational Service Center located at 2727 N Ferry St. in Anoka. Participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback after interacting with proposed textbooks and accompanying teaching tools.
Bridges in Mathematics by The Math Learning Center, and Everyday Mathematics 4 by McGraw Hill will all be available for review during the open house.
This is an important component of a board-approved process to adopt new classroom materials. Since 2016, district leaders have researched various options and discussed best practices in math instruction with national math consultants and state personnel. Several stakeholders have shared their thoughts to date in district and community curriculum, instruction and assessment committees and other daily interactions, as these materials are being tested in 12 Anoka-Hennepin elementary schools.
Snacks and refreshments will be available for those in attendance.
Please contact Carla Hoffman, lead secretary for the elementary curriculum, instruction and assessment department, with questions at 763-506-1162.
