AHEF partnership secures food donation for district students
(06/11/2020) Although the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) Gallagher 5K fun run/walk for Literacy was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, annual partners in the event still found ways to impact district students.
On June 4, GoGo squeeZ and Move for Hunger delivered 7,000 pouches of GoGo squeeZ to Coon Rapids Middle School (CRMS). Last year, GoGo squeeZ donated product to the AHEF to hand out to runners/walkers at the finish line of the Gallagher 5K fun run/walk for Literacy.
For donations in the Twin Cities, GoGo squeeZ partnered with Move for Hunger, a national nonprofit organization that has created a sustainable way to reduce food waste and fight hunger. Members help organize community food drives, participate in awareness campaigns, and create employee engagement programs.
GoGo squeeZ’s mission is to make it easier for kids and families to be healthier and happier. GoGo squeeZ is proud to be the leading squeezable pouch made from 100% fruit, since 1998.
Last week, GoGo squeeZ and Move for Hunger delivered over 60,000 pouches to local school districts.
“So many organizations across the nation are in dire need right now for supplies and food — we are so proud that we can help in any way possible,” said Anna Kisch, brand ambassador for GoGo squeeZ. “We couldn’t have done it without Move for Hunger, especially for their tireless effort to help us get the product where it is needed most.”
“We were delighted that GoGo squeeZ wanted to partner in a way that continued to support our students, given the unexpected and emerging needs,” said Tess DeGeest, executive director of the AHEF. “For them to demonstrate the sense of urgency and flexibility, it showed us another way we can be generous philanthropic supporters of the community. We are fortunate and thankful for their support.”
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AHEF created an agility fund to meet the unexpected and urgent needs of students and staff. Donations gave the capacity and flexibility to meet the not yet known (and not necessarily budgeted for) needs to ensure students and staff were able to effectively implement distance learning.
The AHEF cultivates equitable and innovative experiences for students through partnerships with compassionate people who have generous hearts. Learn more about the AHEF at ahef.us.
