Anoka-Hennepin shows continued enrollment growth, exceeds projections by 342
(10/30/19) Anoka-Hennepin’s official enrollment counts are in, and the results show enrollment in district schools continues to grow, exceeding projections by 342 students.
According to the district’s 2019 enrollment report, Anoka-Hennepin now has 37,386 students enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12, an increase of 378 students from last year, and the highest district enrollment in the past nine years. The district had expected enrollment to grow by 36 students.
The enrollment increases are spread out across grade-levels. District elementary schools are up 162 students, while secondary schools are up 216 additional students. That said, district kindergarten students exceeded projections by 105 students, the largest increase of any grade level. In fact, this is the second year in a row the kindergarten class has significantly exceeded projections.
To put the total enrollment increase of 378 students into perspective, the average district elementary school has 614 students.
