May is Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, so annually in May we celebrate the contributions that generations of Asian and Pacific Islanders have made to American history, society, and culture. The AAPI umbrella term includes cultures from the entire Asian continent—including East, Southeast and South Asia—and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, there were about 20.6 million people of Asian or Pacific Islander descent in the United States. According to the Pew Research Center, AAPI people are a diverse and growing population that make up about 7 percent of the total U.S. population. In May, we pay tribute to those Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and are instrumental in its future success. 

Today is DEAR day. On DEAR days we drop everything and read! This is a great time to lose yourself in a good book and take a break from all the distractions in life. Enjoy this time to re-charge and feed your brain!
