InTouch Phone Message May 21
Good afternoon. This is Gary Lundeen, principal at Oak View Middle School.
Thank you, parents and guardians, for all of your work and support during distance learning. Please know that we understand this is new, can be challenging and is a lot to juggle. Families are worried about the health of loved ones, potential income loss, our kids’ well-being, our parents, our friends, overwhelmed with all of the changes around us, and how to balance all of these things while working and managing distance learning. Thank you for all you are doing!
Calendar Update
- There is no school on Monday, May 25 due to the Memorial Day Holiday.
- Wednesday, May 27 is designated as a student “catch up” day without new assignments.
- The last day of new instruction/activities is Thursday, June 4.
- Please watch for detailed information to come out by the middle of next week regarding student materials return and pick-up.
Grading
A reminder to please monitor your child’s progress on AH Connect. If you have questions about a specific grade, please contact the teacher directly.
Library Books
We will collect media materials as part of our larger materials return and pick-up process after June 4. However, if you would like to drop off library books early, we have placed a bin inside our front vestibule. This bin is accessible from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm each work day. Again, however, you can wait to return media materials during our larger process after June 4.
Memorial Day Assembly
For the past 24 years, Oak View has held a student Memorial Day Assembly the Friday before Memorial Day to honor and recognize the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for the rest of us to live safely and freely. Unfortunately, we cannot be together in-person this year, but we felt that the Oak View tradition and assembly purpose was so important that we created a virtual Memorial Day Assembly. If you can, please take the time to watch the following video and reflect upon the true meaning of Memorial Day. The link is provided below. Students will also receive the link to the video tomorrow morning through their Social Studies classes.
