Monroe Elementary parent drop-off/pick-up modifications
In an effort to improve student safety and operations on area roadways, Anoka-Hennepin Schools is proposing modifications to morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up locations at Monroe Elementary School.
Why it matters: Traffic is backing up on Brookdale Drive currently during the morning hours between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and in the afternoon from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p..m. causing congestion and safety concerns for students and motorists.
The solution: Bus traffic and parent drop-off and pick-up locations would be reversed under this proposal This will improve traffic flow on Brookdale Drive and manage all parent traffic in the access road and loop to the south side of the school.
By the numbers: Approximately 90 vehicles are picking up and dropping off students at Monroe. This proposal would move traffic from the seven school buses to the front of the school. These procedures will only be in place when school is in session, 170 days per year.
Learn more: Come to an Open House Meeting to learn more on the project and ask questions of school and city staff.
