District partners with Brazen to host virtual job fairs
(04/16/2021) The last year has brought many changes to how we do our work, and recruitment is no exception. After researching various online job platforms, Anoka-Hennepin has signed a two-year agreement with Brazen, a mobile-friendly platform that allows job seekers to virtually visit booths to learn about specific jobs and participate in text-based chats or chat-to-video conversations.
Brazen offers an intuitive design and easy-to-use features. Through the platform, Anoka-Hennepin will be able to host large and small recruitment events for operational and teaching positions. In the virtual job fair for teaching positions held April 15, 77% of individuals who signed up for the event ahead of time attended the event and 227 candidates connected with a hiring manager.
"The Brazen platform was incredibly user-friendly," said Lillian DeRung, principal at Eisenhower Elementary School. "Additionally, the digital career fair was a fantastic way to get to know potential candidates and to speak about all the great things happening in the district and specifically in our buildings. In a few short hours, I was able to speak with and/or video chat with several high-quality candidates. I feel the experience was beneficial for them as well as they were able to meet one on one with administrators and receive application and interview advice."
"The video chat option was an awesome tool," said John Peña, assistant principal at Anoka Middle School for the Arts. "It provided the candidate an opportunity to bring the words from their resume to life as we had a chance to engage in authentic face-to-face conversations. This was a great way to meet potential additions to our AMSA family!"
Schools and departments with hiring needs will have a virtual booth at events that provides information about their school/department and available positions. Principals and hiring managers staff the virtual booth to have text-based chats or chat-to-video conversations with job seekers.
"Our first events were a great success," said Julie Phillips, Anoka-Hennepin's recruitment and retention specialist. "Candidates were grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the district and have the opportunity to chat directly with hiring administrators. We are excited to host future hiring events and job fairs using the flexible platform for both small targeted needs as well as large events."
The new virtual job platform will allow the district to personally connect with more job seekers.
The district recently held virtual job fairs for both operational and teaching positions. Stay tuned to the district website, social media and e-newsletters for announcements of future virtual job fair events.
