District’s Indian Education program hosts celebration and public hearing event
(01/11/19) Anoka-Hennepin’s Indian Education program students, staff, and parents and guardians got together Jan. 10 for the district’s first American Indian trimester celebration and public hearing night.
Held at Coon Rapids Middle School, those in attendance enjoyed a meal and discussion about the program, and then celebrated the academic, cultural and community service achievements of the district’s American Indian students.
The annual Indian Education public hearing was held in conjunction with the celebration, with the goal of providing parents and guardians and students a stronger voice in programming, and the presentation replaced the American Indian public hearing, which has been presented to the School Board annually in February.
