After-school and evening activities canceled for Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, afternoon student transportation modified
(11/29/2022) After-school and evening activities in the Anoka-Hennepin School District have been canceled for today, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022, due to heavy snow expected to last throughout the afternoon and evening. Adventures Plus school-age care will remain open until all children have been picked up. This cancellation includes afternoon ECFE and preschool classes scheduled to start at or after 12 p.m.
The school day will continue as usual, however, high schools will dismiss 30 minutes early and middle schools will dismiss 15 minutes early as a preventative measure to help buses run on schedule through the remainder of the afternoon. Adventures Plus school-age care will remain open until all children have been picked up.
The special School Board meeting held tonight to begin conducting interviews for the next superintendent of schools will remain scheduled.
Details about what is canceled:
- Afternoon and evening athletics and activity buses are canceled.
- Community Education activities and classes after 12 p.m.have been canceled, including Adult Basic Education, Adult Learning, Aquatics, Community School programs, Early Childhood Family Education, Project Power and Preschool. See the Community Education website for more details.
- School buildings and other school facilities will be closed after the school day is complete. Facility rentals are canceled.
- Extra-curricular school activities, field trips, games (including away games), school concerts, school plays, etc. are canceled.
Details about transportation home:
- A modified dismissal time is in place for high schools and middle schools in an effort to to help buses run on schedule through the remainder of the afternoon:
- High schools will dismiss 30 minutes early.
- Middle schools will dismiss 15 minutes early.
- Elementary schools will dismiss on time.
- Buses may be late by half an hour or more because driving conditions often slow traffic. Please avoid calling the school or the Transportation Department (763-506-1125) unless your child is more than half an hour late returning home.
Staff on late shifts:
- Staff who have questions about whether or not they report to work for a late shift should contact their supervisor for direction.
