Katie Bergstrom hired as district’s associate general counsel
(10/23/2020) Katie Bergstrom was recently hired as associate general counsel for Anoka-Hennepin Schools. She began her new role Oct. 5.
Bergstrom is also a solo practitioner in the areas of business advising and litigation. She comes to Anoka-Hennepin after serving one year as the interim principal at Saint John’s Preparatory school in Collegeville, Minn. A graduate of Saint John’s Prep, Bergstrom served on the Board of Regents before being named interim principal of the school.
“This position is a great marriage of my legal career and my budding education career,” Bergstrom said. “It allows me to do what I know how to do, which is be a good lawyer in a setting in which I am passionate about, which is education.”
It was at St. John’s Prep where she found that passion for education.
“I really enjoyed serving on the board of regents,” Bergstrom said. “While there, I helped the organization through strategic planning and I really felt great about the mission of educating kids. I am looking forward to working collaboratively to help fulfill the mission of Anoka-Hennepin, and that is exciting.”
Prior to her transition into education, Bergstrom was a trial and litigation attorney for Gray, Plant, Mooty and Bennett for 23 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1987 before completing her Juris Doctor degree at the University of Minnesota in 1991. Bergstrom is currently working to complete her K-12 administration degree at Bethel University.
