Message from the Principal, March 29, 2020

Hello, Jackson parents, guardians and students, this is Mr. Hagerty, your Principal:

Your teachers are ready to begin our distance learning program through April per MN Governor Walz’s directive and in partnership with our District Superintendent Dr. Law. Together we will work to provide the best educational experience possible for our students. In this email I want to provide some initial information that will help your student get started on distance learning which will begin tomorrow, Monday, March 30.

All students will need to log into their school-assigned Gmail account on Monday shortly after 9 a.m. and access Google Classroom. This is something that all of our students have been trained on and have used during the school year. If your student is struggling with their password during login, please contact our Technical Support line at 763-506-6887. All other questions can be directed to us at the JMS main office line at 763-506-5200.

Please refer to this FAQ  document that will have answers to questions that many of you have asked about the distance learning process for the Anoka-Hennepin Schools, including Jackson Middle School.

I want you to know that I expect all of our students to interact daily with the distance learning curriculum and their teachers on both Day 1 and Day 2 just as if they were in their actual classroom. Please have your student email their teachers directly with questions they have about curriculum and assignments after Monday. Students should not expect to hear from their teachers in Study Hall, Office Worker, or Advisory.

Teachers will be available to your students during the following times:

9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday - Friday

1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday

During these posted times, teachers will be available for student communication and are committed to responding within 24 hours. This could include email, Google Meets, and/or other modes of remote interaction. The rest of our teacher’s duty day will include collaborating with their colleagues and administration or preparing for distance learning for the children of our community.

JMS Office Hours

Jackson Middle School’s building will be open for modified hours daily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. although my team of Assistant Principals, Counselors, Case Managers, and secretary staff will be working remotely during regular school hours via e-mail and voicemail.

By order of the Governor we need you to stay at home, so please call first to see if we can help you over the phone.

Call 763-506-5200 if you need any support with this process. In the meantime, stay patient, practice healthy habits, and look for teacher direction tomorrow morning. We miss you all.
