Reminder: No school on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5
(10/30/2019) Anoka-Hennepin schools will hold a professional development day for staff on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, which means that there will not be school for students. The School Board decided to hold a professional development day on Election Day to mitigate any potential concerns about student safety and to minimize disruptions to learning.
The Anoka-Hennepin School District has elections for three School Board member positions on the Nov. 5 ballot. View election day information, find your polling place, and learn more about absentee and early voting.
A similar professional development day is being held on the presidential primary Election Day, Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Review district calendars online at ahschools.us/calendar.
Non-school day activities
Anoka-Hennepin Community Education coordinates classes and activities for students in kindergarten through grade eight after-school, in the evening, on the weekends and over the summer months. In addition, unique field trips and all-day activities are coordinated on non-school days to enhance academic and social experiences for students while they’re out of school.
"School's Out" trips and activities are supervised and led by trained coaches, licensed teachers or knowledgeable staff who emphasize and encourage participation and respect for others.
Two “School’s Out” events are currently scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5. Space is limited:
- Way Cool Cooking School and Movie at Northdale Middle School, open to students in grades two to six. (Registration closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1.)
- Gaming Truck at Coon Rapids Middle School, open to students in grades six to eight. (Registration closes at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 4.)
