Deadline for AHEF mini-grant fast approaching
This fall, the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation (AHEF) will be offering a second round of mini-grants for teachers and staff, in addition to the annual grants awarded in May, for the 2018-19 school year.
AHEF plans to award 10, $500 mini-grants this fall. The mini-grant application is available online at ahschools.us/AHEFgrantapp. Applications are due on Oct. 1, with the goal of grants being awarded mid-October.
“We heard from teachers, especially at the elementary level, that it was hard to know in March what they might need for the classrooms the following year,” Tess DeGeest, executive director of the AHEF said. “Some teachers move to different grade levels or building and are not able to plan ahead. Because of this, we wanted to provide a second chance for smaller classroom or building grant requests after the start of the school year.”
Mike Broos, chair of the AHEF board explained, “Creating more timely opportunities for our teachers and staff we hope will translate directly into more and richer opportunities for our students.”
