MDH recommends families get tested for COVID-19 regularly to keep schools open
(03/04/2021) Anoka-Hennepin superintendent David Law and students from Andover High School (AndHS) joined leaders from the state of Minnesota at the Anoka Armory community testing site Feb. 26 to discuss the importance of regular testing for COVID-19.
AndHS seniors Dawson Clifton, Sofie Sherburne, Carter Johnson and junior Lisa Msuya participated in a press conference with Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) deputy commissioner Dr. Heather Mueller and Dan Huff, assistant commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to encourage students and families to test regularly for COVID-19 to ensure schools stay open and co-curricular activities continue.
The MDH recommends that students and parents/guardians get tested for COVID-19 every two weeks in order to limit virus spread and keep schools open.
Visit the state’s testing locations website or reach out to a healthcare provider for details. There are two no-cost community sites in or near district boundaries, including the Anoka Armory site and the Brooklyn Park - Starlite Center.
Anoka-Hennepin employees have had the opportunity to participate in COVID-19 saliva testing every other Monday in a program offered through the state as part of an ongoing effort to provide safe and healthy environments at school.
