STEAM Expo showcases creativity, innovation and problem-solving at Anoka High School
(05/23/2025) Anoka High School - Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) - students presented their annual STEAM Expo event Wednesday, May 14 - sharing ideas, designs, brain games and capstone projects to hundreds of family members and professionals from the community.
The STEAM Expo is focused on showcasing creativity and innovation fostered in students' learning, while engaging and collaborating with the community. Advanced culinary students showcased restaurant concepts and food samples, 11th grade students presented their interactive learning exhibits, 10th graders in STEAM Design Lab classes shared their solutions to ‘brain games’ through creative problem-solving, student artwork was on display, and over 55 seniors presented their year-long final capstone work.
In addition, spotlight speakers shared insight into their projects through a “TED-talk”-style presentation in the school auditorium. “Tonight’s STEAM Expo is a celebration of innovation, perseverance, and creativity — and most importantly, it’s a celebration of the incredible students behind the work,” said Anoka High School principal, Michael Farley.
“It’s a testament to what happens when students are given real challenges and trusted to lead the learning. The level of innovation, craftsmanship, and perseverance on display is a direct result of students choosing to take on more: to try, to fail, to adjust, and to try again. That’s the ‘STEAM way’. This work doesn’t happen without grit — and it doesn’t happen without a community that supports risk-taking and celebrates iteration.”
