JoAnn Arneson, second grade teacher at Madison Elementary School, goes the extra mile to make a connection with all her students and families. You’ll she her participating in various committees at school, attending student events, and pulling out all the necessary stops to meet individual learning needs. Arneson said she feels she should lead by example.

“She teaches her students to dream big, to never give up, and put forth their very best in everything they do no matter their ability,” said Sue Gorka, the parent that nominated her. “She encourages her students to be the best versions of themselves.”

Some of the ways Arneson helps individualize learning is by inviting parent volunteers and students teachers into her classroom to assist with specific needs whether it be guided reading or math help. “I believe listening to my student’s issues and take what may seem as a small issue very seriously,” said Arneson. “I want them to know they matter to me.”

“Mrs. Arneson is a teacher that is dedicated to her students and makes connection with them and their families that lasts a lifetime,” said Gorka.
